ARIA - A strategy for disaster management
and relief
The effects of climate change have led to an increasing frequency of floods and flash floods caused by heavy rainfall. These natural disasters cause considerable damage to properties and claim human lives.

ARIA (Aerial Rescue Intelligent Assistant) is one solution to overcome these challenges. By using artificial intelligence and autonomous drones such as DJI and Wingcopter, ARIA improves early detection and response capabilities in flood disasters and is designed to initiate fast and effective life-saving actions.
Explanation video
Intelligent support and warning
ARIA integrates data from weather services, satellites and monitoring stations to provide accurate forecasts and early warnings of upcoming flood events. This system makes critical information accessible and understandable, ensuring timely and informed decisions for both the authorities and the public.
Interaction and communication
Educating the public on how to interact effectively with the ARIA drones is crucial. A dedicated campaign across various media channels provides information on the use of hand signals and voice commands ("Hey, Aria") to enable straightforward communication. This initiative highlights simple, intuitive ways in which individuals can interact with the drones to increase the efficiency of rescue operations.
Holistic software solution
At the heart of ARIA is the software developed to optimize resource management and operational coordination. It centralizes key information, enabling efficient planning and rapid response in emergencies. The user interface provides quick overviews and direct access to important data, helping rescue teams and decision-makers to take timely action.
Analysis and decision support
Using AI for real-time data analysis, ARIA processes complex data sets and provides clear, intuitive visualizations. This helps rescue teams to quickly assess situations and make informed decisions, significantly improving the effectiveness of rescue operations.
Evacuation
and rescue
ARIA's system is characterized by its ability to identify and communicate with people in disasters. Using thermal imaging cameras and direct voice communication, it facilitates specific evacuation strategies and relief efforts, such as the delivery of vital supplies like medicine, food, water, lifebuoys and life rafts via wingcopter drones.
Future
perspective
ARIA is designed to be flexible enough to be adapted for various disaster scenarios beyond flooding. The scalable platform is equipped for future expansions to cope with various emergency situations and offers considerable potential
Conclusion
ARIA is a fusion of technology and creative thinking to build life-saving solutions for natural disasters. By combining intuitive usability and technical innovation, the critical challenges of flooding are addressed with the aim of saving lives and reducing damage. ARIA demonstrates how strategic design and advanced technology can work hand in hand to improve disaster relief and recovery, and ultimately create a more resilient society in the face of climate change.
